A short story to
a Long journey

On September 5th, 2021, I was driving from Los Angeles to Las Vegas for and overnight trip, when I thought to myself:

“Why am I gonna go back?”

In less than 24 hours, and before even returning back to Los Angeles, I had decided that I would let my current lease end in February and figure out how to make it work from there…

AND now I’m here.. Wherever I am…

Which makes me extremely happy! And that was the ultimate goal.

Sharing My Story

Leaving Los Angeles meant leaving the film industry, which was easy for me to do for many reasons, but that’s a story for another day. However, prior to living in LA, I had 8 years of film school and self-produced video projects under my belt.

“Story telling” has been my passion from the beginning, no matter the medium. So, sharing my journey has been a core element of the plan from the very beginning, and a catalyst to many of the adventures I’ve found myself on so far.

I knew that the whole experience would be a learning opportunity. As I traveled, I wanted to develope a sustainable method of sharing it all. Even though video seemed like the obvious answer, writing really started to be the best for me. ‘The Nomadic Guide’ is one of the projects that came to life.

Although I still have video content that I have been capturing along the way, writing will be my focus for now.

The Nomadic Guide

TNG came from a mix of multiple personal quirks. The most obvious was that I enjoyed reviewing businesses that I liked. I probably enjoy it *too much*.. But I truly enjoy helping people! And leaving (mostly positive) reviews helps a lot of people – the customer, the business, and even the employees!

Using Google reviews as the platform, I also wanted to bring something ‘new’ to community. Nothing is more useless than a review that says “I like this place!” or “This place is trash.” with no other context. I have 0% trust in those reviews. So, I wanted to bring actual substance to my reviews with insight, experience, thoughts, feelings, and A LOT of pictures.

The more relatable reason is that I love food and I wanted to have a “reason” to intentionally try more places. I’m not a food critic, but I am a vibe critic FOR sure. And seriously, who hasn’t daydreamed about being a food or travel blogger? No one.
